In the 2018-2019 academic year, Mas Casanovas school, the Art Nouveau Site, Hospital de Sant Pau and its Research Institute started an education alliance as part of the Magnet Programme of Fundació Bofill. The aim of this initiative is to accompany schools in developing an across-the-board education project that is a point of reference for families and for the education community in general. In this case, the whole environment of Sant Pau works side by side with this Guinardó primary school to create an educational strategy that enables better knowledge of an important institution in the school’s immediate environs, as well as reinforcing a feeling of belonging.
During the last course, pupils at the various educational levels worked hard to get to know the Art Nouveau Site. Aspects such as architecture, the artistic value of the buildings, the symbolism present in the various spaces and the Site’s relation with the evolution of Barcelona were some of the issues addressed in different work sessions, at Sant Pau and back in the classroom.
In the month of May, during their drama class, pupils in primary five and six prepared a guided visit for their fellow pupils and families. This is just one example of the relationship that Sant Pau aims to promote with its most immediate surroundings, aware of the social significance of heritage and its value to education.
